POKER WITH YOUR FRIENDS
Privacy policy
Poker With Your Friends is a free, play-money Texas Hold’em game. There are no accounts, ads, or third-party analytics. This page explains the small amount of information the game needs to run a table.
Play money only: no real money, no prizes, no cash-out.
What you give us
A display name (up to 18 characters) and an avatar picture you choose. Other people at your table, and anyone viewing the open-tables list or an invite preview for a table you host, can see them.
Table chat messages (up to 280 characters). Everyone at the table can read them. The server keeps the latest 50 messages per table.
Table settings, such as the table name, chips, blinds, and whether to list the table publicly.
Anonymous browser play
When you play in a browser, your browser creates a random player ID. When you take a seat, the server issues a random resume token so only your browser can reclaim that seat; the server stores only a one-way hash of that token.
Your browser’s local storage keeps your player ID, name, avatar, sound preference, resume tokens, recent tables, table preferences, and any private “settle up” notes you write on a recap. Notes never leave your browser. Clear your site data to remove all of it.
One session cookie (pwyf_src) records only how you arrived, as a category such as “google”, “invite”, or “direct”. It holds no identifier and expires when you close the browser.
Playing inside Discord
When you launch the Discord Activity, you authorize the app with the Discord “identify” scope (and “rpc.activities.write” to show what you are playing). The server receives your Discord user ID, username, display name, and avatar. It uses them to seat you, show your name and Discord avatar at the table, and confirm you are in the Activity session. We do not receive your email address, friends list, or messages.
Your Discord user ID is stored with the table so you can rejoin. Your Discord access token is not stored on the server.
If you choose to share a hand result, the image is uploaded to Discord on your behalf. Discord’s own privacy policy applies to everything you do in Discord.
Game and table data
The server keeps each table’s state: seated players and spectators, chip stacks, the last 20 hands of history, chat, and per-table statistics. Tables are deleted after 30 days with no one connected.
If you choose Share this hand on a notable showdown, a public replay is created at a random link. It includes player display names, shown showdown cards, chip stacks and actions, and community cards. Folded cards, chat, table codes and resume tokens are excluded. The latest 1,000 shared hands are kept; anyone with the link can view them.
If you press Share on a recap, a public snapshot is created at a random link. It contains display names, avatars, chip totals, the biggest pot, and the best revealed hand, and the table invite link, but no cards, chat, or notes. The latest 1,000 snapshots are kept; anyone with the link can view it.
Usage counts and logs
We count product events, such as page visits, tables created, hands played, and invites shared, to see whether the game works for groups. Counts are grouped by day and fixed categories (like device type and arrival source) and are published in aggregate at /metrics.
Server logs record these events with a timestamp, room code, and counts. They do not include chat, cards, or IP addresses.
Your IP address is held in memory for up to one minute to limit abuse, and is not saved. Our hosting provider may keep standard network logs.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers. Data is shared only with service providers needed to run the game (web hosting, and Discord when you play there), or when required by law.
Avatars of Discord players are loaded from Discord’s image servers, so Discord may see those requests.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Inside Discord, Discord’s minimum age applies.
Your choices
You can play without giving a real name. You can leave a table at any time, clear your browser’s site data, or ask the host to remove you. To ask us to delete table data, a shared-hand link or a recap link, email [email protected] with the room code or link.
We will post changes on this page and update the date below.
